Cramps in the stomach can be due to a lot of reasons and pain can be caused by gas, indigestion, inflammation, menstruation, nausea, bloating, etc. Its stomach is the center for many different kinds of pain which again makes it hard for the doctors to diagnose the actual problem. If your pain is getting worse over the time without any kind of physical disease or injury then it may be due to depression. Our digestive tract, starting from our esophagus, till intestines is also considered as another brain by the scientific community as it has been known to directly and indirectly affect our mental stability.
A lot of digestive problems can also be the cause of depression. Mental health can disturb your bowel movements and create conditions like diarrhea and constipation. Chronic sadness, depression, anxiety, etc are known to interfere with working of gut its health.
The toll on your mental health can not only make you emotionally sensitive but also physically sensitive. People who are already on their toes due to mental instability tend to jump on almost every probing no matter how small it is. They may feel tension in the nervous system and a decreased tolerance towards pain. The relationship between the sensitivity and depression haven’t been properly defined yet but a lot of researchers suggest that there is one. And it is not just the pain, the physical stimuli towards any physical interaction gets changed, usually heightened. A study conducted almost a decade ago showed that people who are depressed are prone towards feeling more pain.

A lot of people who suffer from these go undetected due to lack of knowledge or medical care. Many such cases are passed as unknown or other physical problems due to cultural barriers.
